Breakaway Audio Enhancer 1.30.02 — Quick User & Setup Guide
Step 1: Prepare Your System
- Disable all other audio enhancements (Realtek HD Audio Manager enhancements, Dolby Audio, DTS).
- Temporarily turn off antivirus software (some mistakenly flag Breakaway’s audio hooking as suspicious).
- Create a System Restore point.
Requirements
- Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 (32 or 64-bit)
- Any sound card or onboard audio
- ~10 MB disk space
1. Multiband Compression (4 Bands)
Unlike single-band compressors that pump the entire signal, Breakaway splits audio into four frequency ranges (Sub-bass, Low-mid, High-mid, Treble). Each band is compressed independently, allowing for a "loud but clear" signature without muddiness.
For Movies / TV Shows (Even out dialogue vs. explosions)
- AGC: 40–50 (stronger leveling)
- Drive: 50–60
- Gate: 20 (let quiet passages breathe)
- Treble: +3 dB (clarity for voices)
For Music (Preserve dynamics)
- AGC: 10–20
- Drive: 30–40
- Gate: 40 (avoid pumping on silent track parts)
- Bass: +3 to +5 dB (depending on headphones/speakers)
