Construct 3 license key — Guide
How license keys and activation work
- Account-based subscriptions: Modern Construct 3 primarily uses account sign-in; your subscription status is stored server-side and unlocked when you sign in to the editor.
- License keys (when used): A license key is an alphanumeric code that can be entered in the product’s activation UI to unlock paid functionality without, or in addition to, account sign-in—useful for offline installations or site licenses.
- Seat assignment: For multi-seat plans, administrators assign seats to users or devices; keys may be unique per seat or shared per organization per terms.
- Online verification: Activation typically involves the editor contacting Scirra’s license servers to validate the key; offline activation workflows (if supported) may require generating an activation file from the license portal.
License types
- Free (Personal/Free edition): Limited features; no license key required.
- Individual subscription: Monthly/annual paid plan tied to an account; enables full feature set in the online editor and exports.
- Business/Enterprise: Multi-seat plans and volume licensing with organizational billing and additional support.
- Education: Discounted classroom/site licenses for schools and institutions.
- Perpetual/offline keys (if offered): Some older or special arrangements provide license keys to activate offline or dev-seat installations. Check current Scirra policy for availability.
Managing subscriptions and seats
- License portal: Use Scirra’s license or account portal to view active subscriptions, seat allocation, renewal dates, and purchase history.
- Renewals: Subscriptions typically renew automatically unless canceled; check billing settings.
- Transfers: Many providers allow transferring seats to new users via the portal; keys may be revoked and reissued.
- Cancellation: Canceling stops future billing; access may continue until the end of the paid period.
Legal & compliance notes
- License terms: Read the Construct 3 Terms of Service and EULA for permitted use, redistribution rules, and export options.
- Educational and volume discounts: Verify eligibility and required documentation.
- Export target requirements: Some export targets (e.g., consoles, certain third-party platforms) may require additional licenses or agreements.
