Technical Report: EST3 SDU Software
1. The Project Manager
This is your dashboard. You define the master project name, network number, and system password. Crucial note: The SDU uses a "Controller Configuration" file (.cont) that holds all node definitions.
5. Networking – Peer-to-Peer Messaging
EST3 supports 3-SDU fiber/copper network (up to 64 nodes). In the SDU: est3 sdu software
- Each node has a Node ID (1–64).
- You define Network Groups for global events – e.g., Group 10 = “Any fire on floor 5 across all towers”.
- Remote rules:
WHEN NODE(5).ZONE(Z123)=ALARM THEN NODE(3).REL(3,4)=ON
The SDU compiles these into a distributed database and ensures consistent rule interpretation across nodes. It also calculates token-passing timing to avoid message congestion. Technical Report: EST3 SDU Software 1
11. Safety & Compliance
- NFPA 72 – Compliant when programmed by certified technician
- UL 864 – 9th edition compliance (for newer firmware versions)
- CSFM – California State Fire Marshal approved
- EN 54 – European version (EST3i) with different SDU variant
Important: Field modifications to an EST3 system must be made by a factory-trained programmer. Improper logic can bypass safety functions or cause nuisance alarms. Each node has a Node ID (1–64)
