Lia tinha um projeto: “A Luz que Não Envelhece”, uma série de retratos que celebrava a corporeidade dos idosos, mostrando que o corpo continua a ser poema, independentemente da idade.

Ao ouvir sobre a iniciativa, Carmem sorriu. “Se a luz ainda nos abraça, por que não deixarmos ela entrar?”, disse, e convidou Lia para o seu pequeno ateliê improvisado – um cômodo com paredes de pedra, cortinas de linho e uma janela que deixava a luz do sol entrar como um pincel dourado.

Nas semanas seguintes, Lia encontrou as mulheres da vila: Dona Teresa, que ainda cantava choros de frevo nas festas; Dona Lúcia, que bordava mantas com as mãos trêmulas mas firmes; Dona Maria, que ainda jogava dominó até tarde. Cada uma aceitou o convite de se despir, não por vaidade, mas para revelar, diante da lente, a história gravada em cada linha, em cada cicatriz, em cada curva que o tempo esculpiu.

O ateliê foi transformado num santuário de sombras suaves e luzes douradas. As mulheres posavam em cadeiras de madeira, no chão de terra batida, ao lado de vasos de cerâmica cheia de flores silvestres. A câmera capturava o brilho dos cabelos prateados, a textura da pele que lembrava mapas de caminhos percorridos, e o sorriso que surgia quando lembravam de um amor antigo ou de um filho que havia partido.

Lia não buscava sensacionalismo. Cada clique era um ato de respeito: a luz acariciava a silhueta de Carmem enquanto ela, de pé diante da janela, levantava as mãos ao céu, como se agradecesse ao sol que ainda a aquecia. Em outra foto, Dona Teresa, com o rosto iluminado, deixava a brisa tocar suas costas nuas, revelando a força de um corpo que ainda carregava histórias de dança, de trabalho nos campos e de abraços apertados.

Quando a série foi concluída, as imagens foram exibidas no salão da comunidade, acompanhadas de pequenos textos escritos pelas próprias mulheres, descrevendo o que sentiam ao se permitirem ser vistas. “É como abrir a janela da alma”, escreveu Carmem. “Mostrei meus anos, mas também mostrei que ainda há luz dentro de mim”. A exposição atraiu visitantes de cidades vizinhas. Muitos ficaram emocionados ao perceber que a nudez não precisava ser vulgar; podia ser, antes, uma forma de arte que honrava a vida, a memória e a dignidade. As fotos de Lia, então, tornaram‑se um lembrete de que a beleza não tem prazo de validade e que a luz que ilumina nossos corpos jamais envelhece.

Ao final do evento, as amigas de Carmem se reuniram para um chá. Entre risos e lembranças, concordaram que aquele momento tinha sido mais do que um registro visual; era um ato de coragem, um testemunho de que o corpo, mesmo quando marcado pelos anos, ainda pode ser poesia. E, enquanto o sol se punha sobre São Bento, a luz dourada ainda se refletia nos olhos de cada uma, mostrando que a beleza, assim como o amor, permanece viva, independentemente da idade.
