Back up your saves. Navigate to: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Hammerwatch/Heroes of Hammerwatch/SaveFiles/. Copy everything to your desktop.
Go offline. Disable your internet adapter or set Steam to Offline Mode.
Use a virtual machine (VM) or a sandbox like Sandboxie to run Cheat Engine isolated from your main OS.
Download from reputable sources. Stick to the official Cheat Engine forums (Fearless Revolution). Check the comments and file reputation scores.
Only use numerical edits (e.g., change 150 ore to 1500). Avoid scripting toggles like "God Mode," as these are more likely to corrupt saves.
Never host a public lobby while the table is active.
