Before installing new drivers, clean up old ones:
- Press
Windows + X→ Device Manager. - Expand Imaging devices. If you see "Kyocera FS-1120MFP Scanner" with a yellow exclamation, right-click and Uninstall device.
- Also check Print queues – uninstall any Kyocera printer entries (you can reinstall them later).
- Go to Apps & features and uninstall any "Kyocera Product Library" or "Kyocera Control Center" entries.
Final Resort: Use Virtual Scanner (Workaround)
If absolutely nothing works, scan to email or USB directly from the FS-1120MFP control panel:
- Scan to USB: Insert USB drive into the front port → Press Scan → Select USB.
- Scan to Email: Configure SMTP settings via the printer’s web interface (if on network).
Step 7: USB vs Network Troubleshooting
- USB connection: Try a different USB port (preferably USB 2.0, not 3.0). Reconnect after driver install.
- Network connection: If using network scanning, assign a static IP to the FS-1120MFP via its web interface. Then in Kyocera Control Center, add the scanner manually by IP address.
Method 7: The Nuclear Option – Windows 10 LTSC or Windows 7 VM
If your PC is mission-critical and scanning must work, consider the most stable environment:
Option A: Windows 10 LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel)
- LTSC versions lack the constant feature updates that break legacy drivers. Many IT departments run FS-1120MFPs on LTSC 2019 with zero issues.
Option B: Virtual Machine
- Install Oracle VirtualBox and create a Windows 7 virtual machine.
- Pass through the USB Kyocera device to the VM.
- Install the original CD drivers inside Windows 7. Scan to a shared folder.
- This is 100% reliable but resource-heavy.
