Introduction
LabVIEW Runtime Engine (RTE) allows LabVIEW-built applications to run on systems without the full LabVIEW development environment. Although NI (National Instruments) releases newer RTE versions, legacy applications may require RTE 7.1. This paper documents approaches to locate and verify high-quality downloads, steps to install RTE 7.1, and recommendations to mitigate security and compatibility risks associated with using an obsolete runtime.
