Lenel Lnl-3300-m5 Installation Manual Upd [repack] May 2026
Subject: [GUIDE] Lenel LNL-3300-M5 Installation Manual & Configuration Tips (Updated)
Body:
Hey everyone,
I’ve noticed a few threads recently where people were hunting for the correct documentation for the Lenel LNL-3300-M5 (the Multi-Technology Reader Interface). It seems the official portals have moved some links around during the recent Carrier/Allegion updates, so I wanted to share a direct resource and a few installation notes while I was setting one up this week.
Step 5: Setting the Hardware Address (SW1)
This is a common stumbling point. The LNL-3300-M5 uses a binary dip switch (SW1) for the controller address (1–31). Do not leave it at factory default (0) on a live network. Lenel Lnl-3300-m5 Installation Manual UPD
- Example: To set address 5: DIP 1 ON, DIP 3 ON (1+4=5).
Step 4: Reader Connections (D1/D0)
The manual specifies that the LNL-3300-M5 supports Wiegand or OSDP readers on ports 1 and 2.
- Wiegand: Connect Data 0 (green), Data 1 (white), Ground, +5V/12V.
- OSDP (Recommended): Connect RS-485 A (green), B (white), and Ground. The UPD manual states that resistors are no longer required for OSDP on the M5 due to auto-termination.
Firmware and Software Compatibility (Critical for the "UPD")
You cannot use the LNL-3300-M5 with legacy firmware. According to the updated installation guide, the board requires: Example: To set address 5: DIP 1 ON, DIP 3 ON (1+4=5)
- Firmware: Version 1.6.8 or higher (for OSDP v2 support).
- Onguard: Version 7.5 or higher (7.6 recommended).
- S2 NetBox: Version 4.2 or higher.
Note: If you are migrating from an older Lenel panel (e.g., LNL-1100), the M5 uses a different XML import schema. You must reconfigure reader modes in Software House or Onguard before connecting.
Input/Output Devices
- Monitor door contacts, REX (Request to Exit) devices, and alarms via supervised inputs when possible.
- Connect door locks to relay outputs or dedicated lock drivers; configure fail-safe vs fail-secure per door requirements.
11. Example wiring notes (practical assumptions)
- Reader power: 12 VDC output, fused at 2 A per reader; combine load should not exceed module’s rated DC output.
- Lock output: Relay rated for switching up to specified voltage/current; for high inrush locks use a dedicated power supply sized for inrush plus steady state.
- Supervised inputs: Use 4.7k end-of-line resistor (example) if module requires; confirm exact resistor value from UPD or manual.
What is the Lenel LNL-3300-M5?
Before diving into the installation, it is vital to understand the device. The LNL-3300-M5 is a high-performance, two-door intelligent system controller. Built on Mercury Security’s OEM platform (the MR52e equivalent), it acts as the "brain" for up to two doors, handling: Step 4: Reader Connections (D1/D0) The manual specifies
- Decision making: Storing and verifying credentials locally (Flash memory: 64 MB standard).
- Communication: TCP/IP via 10/100 Base-T Ethernet.
- Supervision: Monitoring readers, inputs, and relays.
- Offline mode: Continuing access decisions if the head-end server goes offline.
The "M5" designation typically indicates the fifth hardware revision, which includes improved surge protection and a faster processor for biometric template matching.

I keep no secret of my clothing choices, all neighbors within sight know and see me most days. Kids know, one prefers me clothed, one lives here with other half. Some grandkids know some don't because of possible custody issues. One grandkid and family stayed here for a while when she move back to this state.
I live in Oregon where it's legal to be nude in public except for a few cities. It's pretty accepting here here but not quite enough for my taste, like downtown areas. So with that in mind I only go nude on my property, but I don't try to hide if neighbors are out or when cars drive by.
My wife is a full blown textile but fully accepts my proclivity. She's the one that informed our kids that I would be nude always when she talked to me about them moving in, they agreed after a few seconds. The rest is as they say, history. I don't believe that something that is such a big part of my should be kept secret.
