The Maruti Zen (early models, typically pre-2000) used a Japanese Mikuni or Aisan carburetor (similar to the Suzuki Alto/Swift of that era). Later Zen models (MPFI) don’t have a carburetor.
Step 2: Disassembly on Bench

- Remove the top cover (float bowl lid).
- Carefully remove the float pin (needle-nose pliers). Do not bend the float arm.
- Unscrew the idle cutoff solenoid (the brass cylinder on the side). Test it: apply 12V power—it should click.
- Remove the slow jet, main jet, and emulsion tube.
3. The Jet System
- Slow Jet (Pilot Jet): Controls idle to 1/4 throttle.
- Main Jet: Controls 3/4 to full throttle.
- Air Correction Jet: Fine tunes the mixture at high RPM.
- Manual note: Stock Zen main jet is usually #102 or #105. Never drill jets; replace them.
