These big band arrangements of originals are written for 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones (one being a bass trombone), piano, bass and drums. A guitar part is included as an extra for most of them. A few also include extra percussion parts. You might find this useful. Please note that music on this page is more basic than on the other pages. For more advanced (and hopefully more interesting) pieces go to the next pages. The most recent pieces are on the last page.

Integrating body positivity with a wellness lifestyle means shifting your focus from "fixing" your body to

it. It’s the practice of treating your body with respect and kindness, regardless of whether it meets societal beauty standards, while still prioritizing your physical and mental health. Understanding the Connection Everyday actions for better health – WHO recommendations

For a wellness lifestyle rooted in body positivity, a compelling feature is the Functionality over Appearance (FoA) Log.

This feature shifts the focus from how a body looks to what it can do, which is a core tenet of both body positivity and body neutrality. Instead of traditional tracking metrics like weight or calories, this tool encourages users to document daily "functional wins" and joyful movement. Core Feature: The Functionality over Appearance (FoA) Log

The FoA Log acts as a digital gratitude journal for your body's capabilities. It replaces weight charts with a "Capability Timeline" that tracks your physical and mental milestones.

Body Positivity and Body Neutrality: Tips for a Healthy Mindset Integrating body positivity with a wellness lifestyle means

From "No Pain, No Gain" to "Joyful Movement"

The traditional wellness lifestyle preaches discipline through suffering. Workouts are atonement for eating "bad" foods. The body is a problem to be fixed.

Body-positive wellness swaps this for joyful movement. This means asking a different set of questions:

This opens the door to activities often gatekept from larger-bodied individuals: swimming, rock climbing, yoga, and weightlifting. When you remove the aesthetic goal (shrinking), you discover intrinsic goals (strength, flexibility, endorphins). A person in a size 22 body who swims three times a week is not "pre-diabetic waiting to happen"; they are an athlete.

5 Ways to Practice Body Positive Wellness (Without the Guilt)

Celebrating Birthdays in Nature

Birthdays are special occasions that celebrate the joy and beauty of life. For those who appreciate the outdoors and a more natural way of living, a nature-based birthday party can be a unique and memorable experience. From "No Pain, No Gain" to "Joyful Movement"

Making it a Special Day:

The Critiques and The Nuance

No movement is monolithic. Body positivity faces valid critiques:

  1. Co-optation: The term has been watered down by Instagram influencers who are conventionally thin but have cellulite, ignoring the original fat-activist roots. True body positivity is for bodies that face systemic discrimination.
  2. Healthism: Some worry that body positivity ignores genuine health risks associated with extreme weights. The rebuttal: Weight stigma causes physiological stress and prevents people from seeking medical care. A person who feels shamed for their size is less likely to go to the doctor for a cough that turns out to be pneumonia.
  3. The "Good Fatty" trope: The pressure to be a "healthy fat person" (exercising constantly, eating perfectly) is just another form of diet culture. Body positivity argues you deserve respect even if you never get off the couch.

The Mental Health Component

You cannot have a holistic wellness lifestyle without addressing mental health. Body positivity (or its cousin, body neutrality) is a mental health practice. Hating your body takes a tremendous toll on your cortisol levels and overall stress.

Wellness is not just green juice and gym memberships; it is also mental peace. By practicing self-acceptance, you lower anxiety and improve your relationship with yourself. Acknowledging that your worth is not tied to a number on a scale is perhaps one of the healthiest things you can do for your psyche.
