Cockos offers two pricing tiers for the exact same version of Reaper. Both licenses are perpetual and include free updates through two major version cycles (e.g., from version 7.xx through 8.99).

Discounted License ($60): For personal use, educational/non-profit use, or commercial use if your yearly gross revenue from Reaper does not exceed $20,000 USD.

Commercial License ($225): Required for professionals and businesses whose annual revenue from the software exceeds $20,000 USD. 2. Purchasing and Receiving the Key

Visit the official REAPER Purchase Page and select your license type. Complete the payment via PayPal or credit card.

Check your email for a message from Cockos. It will contain: A text block: Surrounded by --- cut --- lines. An attachment: A file named reaper-license.rk. 3. How to Activate Reaper

You can authorize your software using either the text block or the license file. Method A: Using the Text Block (Clipboard)

Open your license email and highlight the entire block of text, including the --- cut --- lines. Copy the text (Ctrl+C on Windows or Cmd+C on Mac).

Open Reaper. It may automatically detect the key on your clipboard and ask if you want to import it.

If it doesn't, go to Help > About REAPER and click the License tab. Reaper should then recognize the text and activate. Method B: Importing the .rk File

Q: Can I get a refund on a Reaper license key?

A: Cockos generally does not offer refunds because of the liberal evaluation period (60 days is ample time to test). However, they may make exceptions for duplicate purchases or extreme circumstances. Contact their support directly.

What is a REAPER License Key?

Unlike many DAWs that use invasive copy protection (dongles, online activation limits, or background telemetry), REAPER uses a simple license file (.rk file) or a text-based key you enter into the software.

Once purchased, you receive a unique license key that:

• Removes the “Still evaluating” nag screen on startup.
• Legally entitles you to use the software for either a Discounted License ($60) or a Commercial License ($225).
• Grants access to all future updates within the same major version cycle (e.g., REAPER 7.x licenses work for all 7.0, 7.1, 7.2… releases).

There is no DRM, no calling home to a license server, and no feature limitation without a license. This is a deliberate design choice by Cockos Incorporated, the company behind REAPER.
