  • Before updating, back up your Serato database and crates: export a copy of your library and crates to an external drive or save metadata backups.
  • Update controller firmware first if your hardware vendor recommends it; this avoids mismatches between controller HID behavior and Serato DJ Pro expectations.
  • Re-analyze critical tracks after upgrade if you rely on beatgrid precision (especially live or variable-tempo material).
  • Test one device/feature at a time in a rehearsal rather than updating immediately before a gig.

Example backup steps:

  1. Open Serato DJ Pro → Library → Right-click a crate → Export iTunes/CSV or use the built-in backup/export database feature.
  2. Copy your Serato folder (containing Serato files) to an external drive.

Increase USB Buffer Size

  • Go to Setup > Audio.
  • Set USB Buffer Size to 5 ms (for modern computers) or 10 ms (for older/laptop computers). Higher buffer = safer but more latency.
