Part 5: Maintenance & Updates

- Download the latest OS update from the Korg website onto a USB drive.

- Turn the keyboard off.
- Hold down the INTRO 1 button while turning the power on.

3. Pedal Calibration (The Most Skipped Step)
Plug your Damper pedal (DS-1H or standard sustain) into DAMPER port. Plug an expression pedal (Korg XVP-20 or similar) into EC5/PEDAL 1. Download the latest OS update from the Korg
- Power on (Wait 60 seconds for boot).
- Go to Global > Controllers > Hand/Foot.
- Calibrate the expression pedal here. Without calibration, your volume will jump from 0 to 100 instantly.
Problem B: "The touch screen is laggy."
- Fix: Go to Global > General Controls > Screen. Change Touch Sensitivity from "High" to "Low." The screen is capacitive; it doesn't need heavy presses.
8. Save Your Setup (Crucial!)
- To save a Keyboard Set (layered sounds with effects): Touch the Keyboard Set Library area → tap Write → name it → confirm.
- To save the entire SongBook Entry (style + sound + tempo + transpose): Press SONGBOOK → tap New Entry → fill name → Write.
Part 4: The "New" Audio Engine Setup
The Pa5x has a new EDS-XP sound engine. To make it sound professional, you must set the Master EQ and Compressor immediately.
Creating the "Quick Style Change" Screen
- Swipe down from the top bezel (like a smartphone).
- Tap Screen Edit.
- Remove the "Info" pane.
- Enlarge the Style Selector pane to take up 70% of the screen.
- Why? When you gig, you need to see 20 styles at once, not album art.
9. Update the OS (Highly Recommended)
Korg releases free updates with new styles and fixes. As of mid‑2024, OS v1.2.x is current. To check yours:
