Pre-Installation Checklist

  1. System Requirements: Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Sofistik 2020. This typically includes a certain version of Windows (64-bit), sufficient RAM (usually 8 GB or more), and disk space.

  2. License: Make sure you have a valid license for Sofistik 2020. You'll need a license file or details to activate the software during or after installation.

Step 6 – Installation Path

  • Default: C:\Program Files\SOFiSTiK\2020
  • Change if needed → Next.

Step 2: The Setup Wizard

  1. Welcome Screen: Click Next.
  2. License Agreement: Read the Software License Agreement. Select "I accept the terms" and click Next.
  3. User Information: Enter your Name, Organization, and email address.

Software Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit). Windows 7 SP1 is supported but not recommended due to security updates.
  • CAD Platform (Crucial): SOFiSTiK 2020 integrates with specific CAD versions.
    • AutoCAD: Versions 2018, 2019, and 2020.
    • BricsCAD: V18, V19, and V20.
  • .NET Framework: Version 4.7 or higher.

4. License Activation (Local License)

If you chose local license:

  1. Copy the provided .lic file to:
    C:\ProgramData\SOFiSTiK\2020\License\
  2. Open SOFiSTiK License Manager (Start menu).
  3. Check that license status = “Valid”.
  4. If missing → click Add license file → browse to .lic.

Part 7: Workflow Optimization After Install

Once your Sofistik 2020 install is stable, optimize your workflows:

  1. CAD Link Setup:

    • In AutoCAD, type NETLOAD and load SOFiSTiK_2020.dll from the SOFiPATH folder.
    • Use SOFiSTiK toolbar for direct geometry transfer.

  2. Database Path:

    • Open SOFiSTiK Control Center.
    • Set SOFIDAT to a network folder if your team shares standard materials (e.g., steel grades, concrete classes).

  3. Parallel Processing:

    • For large solvers (ASE for dynamics), go to Start Menu → SOFiSTiK Tools → Solver Configuration.
    • Set number of CPU threads to (Physical cores - 1). Do not use hyperthreading.

Pathway B: Trial Version (30 days)

  1. Go to the SOFiSTiK Trial page.
  2. Request a trial license key.
  3. Download the same installer via the confirmation email.

5. Post-Installation Verification

Error C: "DLL missing - VCRUNTIME140.dll"

  • Cause: Missing Visual C++ Redistributables.
  • Fix: Download and run VC_redist.x64.exe from Microsoft (2015-2022 version works for 2020).
