WinOLS 4.7 — Installation Guide
Warning: WinOLS is commercial software for ECU map editing. Only install and use it if you have a valid license. Do not use cracked or pirated copies.
First run configuration
- Launch WinOLS as administrator.
- Configure project folders and backup locations in Settings → Files.
- Set up preferred decoding lists and ECU definitions (import from vendor files if provided).
- Verify dongle/license status in Help → About or Licensing section.
Step 3: Run as Administrator

Q1: Can I install WinOLS 4.7 on two computers?
A: With a USB dongle, yes – just move the dongle. With a software license, typically only one machine. Contact EVC for multi-seat licenses. WinOLS 4
Common troubleshooting
- Dongle not detected: Reinstall dongle drivers (CodeMeter/ Sentinel HASP), try different USB port, check Device Manager.
- License error: Verify license matches WinOLS 4.7, ensure network license server is reachable, check firewall.
- Installer blocked: Temporarily disable AV or add installer to exceptions.
- Crashes on start: Update graphics drivers, run as admin, check for required VC++ runtimes and install them.
Error 2: "Checksum error – ECU flash rejected"
Cause: WinOLS is not communicating with your OBD driver.
Solution: Launch WinOLS as administrator
- Run WinOLS as Administrator.
- Reinstall your interface driver (Kess/MPPS).
- In WinOLS, go to Extras > Test Interface to verify communication.
